The standout quality at Poon's is the food. The beef and black bean curry receives praise as one of the best in town, with tender meat that melts in your mouth. The variety offered in the breakfast menu, including options like the full breakfast and creative baps, keeps diners coming back for more.

Clients appreciate the café's dog-friendly policy and the inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation. Staff friendliness consistently garners compliments, with many visitors noting the attentive service that goes beyond expectations. Coupled with the amazing selection of cakes and baked treats, it’s hard not to find something to love about Poon's Street Food.

Most Disliked

One common point of feedback is the occasional delay during peak hours. While patrons understand the bustling environment, some have noted longer wait times for coffee, especially during busy weekends.

The café's closure during winter feels disappointing for loyal customers yearning for their favorite dishes and coffees. While the seasonal break is necessary, many enthusiasts express eagerness for its reopening, wishing it could operate year-round to enjoy its vibrant offerings more consistently.

21/7/25: A lovely cafe on two floors in the picturesque town, close to the famous Brown’s pub where Dylan Thomas frequently drank. They serve an interesting selection of Asian and Western cuisine along with classic rolls and sandwiches plus a selection of delicious cakes. It’s dog friendly both down and upstairs and with friendly staff and owners serving and cooking the delicious food. The day we visited they were very busy and we had to ask again for our coffee having already eaten our savoury dishes but that’s probably testament to their good food, environment and friendliness of their business.

Probably one of the best beef curry's I've had in my life . The people there , the owners are just perfect hosts. The beef in black bean was top quality and the apple and blackcurrant crumble was quite simply perfect. Thank you

We were visiting Laugharne for the weekend and Poons is right across from where we were staying. My wife and I decided we'd try their beef curry, and it was delicious. The beef just melts in your mouth. One of the best beef curries I've ever had.

What a lovely place. Really welcoming. Clean and tidy great atmosphere. We had two small breakfasts and a couple of coffees. There was oat milk for the coffee just like I like it. Good value small breakfasts cooked to perfection. Gentleman who served us advised us to keep to the coast road on our journey to Tenby and we were glad we took his advice. Recommended.

Immediately a warm and welcoming atmosphere, greeted kindly as we entered. Woman serving us was lovely and food was quick. The food in question was amazing, especially after a mediocre lunch elsewhere. The Steak was incredible, and very generously sized. The Pad Thai and Pork Mince Stir Fry were also reportedly amazing, so no complaints at all. Would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area, for both British and Thai cuisine.

We had both Breakfast and dinner here. The owners are so so friendly and make time to chat with you. Vince - we’ll see you canoeing on the Wye! Food is brilliant , some of the best Thai food we’ve had and the bacon bap was really good too. Looking forward to trying the cakes on our next visit.
